Terror in Belgium: an investigation against five suspects
After Belgian security forces have dug yesterday in Verviers a terrorist cell that authorities are investigating now against five terror suspects. Three of suspected Islamists were remanded in custody.
Brussels – One day after the anti -terrorism operation of the Belgian police raises the Attorney General’s office five people’ participation in activities of a terrorist group’ before. This was announced by a spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office. Against the suspects investigations have been initiated. Three of them were remanded in custody, two were set conditionally released.
The security forces had dug on Thursday in nationwide raids a terrorist cell that was, according to the prosecutor’s office at police shortly before attacks. In a police operation in East Belgium Verviers near the German border two suspected Islamists were killed and injured a third. The injured man was among the three suspects, who have now been remanded in custody, said Justice spokesman Eric Van with Sijpt. A total of 13 suspected Islamists were arrested on Thursday.
